Believe it or not? The quality of your business card actually says a lot about your company!

As business cards are used to exchange personal information between businesses, they play a role in setting the first impression one has towards your company. Therefore, choosing the right paper type for your business card is essential to impress your potential clients and to show that your company is trustworthy.

There are 4 different types of business card paper materials to choose from mainly art cards, ivory cards, linen cards, and recycled cards. Not sure about the differences between these materials? Let AE Print guide you through each paper type and its main features.

Art Card is a paper coated with an agent on its surface that helps in paper polishing. This gives Art Card a glossy and reflective surface which enables it to produce sharp images while reducing ink bleeding. The surface of this paper is smooth and flat, with a somewhat off-white colour. Art Card can be used to create a unique name card for long-term usage as the coated layer enables added protection.

Ivory Card consist of uncoated paper with a rougher and porous surface, similar to a matte effect. This paper type is a little rougher than Art Card but appears slightly whiter than Art Card. Ivory Card has high ink absorbency, excellent printability, and a clean, unique image look which is better for writing purposes. This paper type is also more suitable for certificates, brochures, pamphlets, and flyers.

A type of paper with a subtle embossed texture and a crosshatch pattern that resembles a linen fabric. Linen Card is frequently used by those seeking a classic and elegant appearance, as the paper produces a sophisticated colour for every use. Linen Card being uncoated, can be written on both sides and is long-lasting. This paper type is appropriate for business cards, letterhead, menu printing, booklet covers, greeting cards, and certificates.

Recycled Card, as the name indicates, are paper manufactured with recycled raw materials which are environmentally friendly, and acid-free. This ink-absorbent paper with a non-shiny surface is ideal for writing notes and is long-lasting as the paper’s imprint will not fade over time. Recycled Card has a texture similar to Ivory Card, but the colour is slightly off-white. This paper type is suitable to evoke positive emotions that the company is socially responsible and cares for the environment.
